"Mmm." AJ ran his hand over his mouth. He focused on what the top of the original screw looked like. "It was round on top..." He made a twisting motion with his index finger and thumb. "With a cross in the middle." How long was it? "Hard to tell how long it was. It's broken." Maybe measuring things would have been a good idea. It was something his uncle would have advised him to do, but he was too preoccupied with other things to take notes on a bloody screw. "Maybe three inches? Maybe less? I'll know it when I see it." He took Lily's hand and gave it a firm shake. "Good to meet you too. Lily it is."
The sky started to darken as the sun slipped behind a pair of clouds, Lily looked up towards the sky and started to measure the time with her hand "It's getting late.." she looked over towards AJ "Hey umm did you want to start heading back into town or did you want to stay longer looking for your screw?" She bent down grabbing her bag and a few things she saw that would be of use to her and started walking towards him her hand out with a variety of screws that's matched his description but was unsure if any where what he wanted "I found some but" she shrugged her shoulders.

AJ squinted up at the sky as well and let out a groan of agreement. He took off his glasses and put them away, then pushed himself to his feet. "I wouldn't wanna be out here unarmed when the Avs start getting riled up." He'd only been outside during the night once, and he sure as hell didn't want to repeat it. "I should probably get back and get some dinner anyway." He looked down at the proffered hand and frowned before plucking a few and examining them a little closer. "I'll give these a go. Thanks." He smiled, though it didn't quite extend to his eyes.
They got to the edge of town, turning on her heels she held her hand out once more for a friendly hand shake "Well I suppose this is where we part ways" she pointed behind her at a little cabin that wound up a long road, almost away from the town itself but close enough "That's where I live, it was fun having someone else in the junk yard..." she pulled her hand away smiling "Hope you find the screw you where looking for or one that works just as well... maybe I'll see you around?"

AJ took Eve's hand when she offered it, giving it a firm shake. He didn't really know how to do otherwise. He looked behind her, then back to her face, a note of recognition in his eyes. "Don't worry about it..." He smiled. "Yeah. I'd like that." He buried his hands in his pockets, still smiling slightly. "...not always in the junk yard, maybe..."
Couple days have passed since Eve had seen AJ in or out of the town limits, she mostly kept to herself but when she did go out she was kind of hoping she'd run into him. It wasn't often she had company, sort of a lone wolf in the town.
She stood at her table and started packing things for the day to go scavenge another junk yard before she head out of town she stopped by the marketplace to pick up a few things for her journey.

Had AJ been deliberately avoiding any situation that would have resulted in his bumping into Lily? Perhaps. Had he deliberately offered to man the watchtower every night just to keep him occupied? Maybe. Was he regretting distancing himself from another person in the settlement? Absolutely. They weren't a large group of people, but he had already struck himself off from any kind of relationship with a majority of them purely by being a miserable shit.
He'd spent that morning out hunting with Vince, the only other person in Bosler who happily put up with his bullshit. He'd managed to catch a few rabbits and decided to take them whole to the marketplace, rather than waste time gutting and skinning them first. He said his goodbyes to Vince and almost immediately afterwards spotted Lily. He felt his body growing warm out of slight embarrassment. What if she'd noticed he'd been avoiding her? How could he possibly get out of that situation. He cleared his throat and decided to play it cool, strolling towards the marketplace with the dead rabbits swinging from his hand.
After making her purchases she turned around and started putting things into her bag, looking up towards the entrance of the town she saw him and gave him a small wave "Hey you!" She closed her bag and started walking towards him "How is that project going for you?" She stopped in front of him quickly looking him over noticing the rabbits in hand "Ahh hunting this morning?" She side stepped a bit her hand went to the base of her neck where she started rubbing it out of being nervous "So uhh I found another junk yard a couple miles south from here... was wondering if you'd like to come along or if you're busy then Nevermind... and maybe some other time we could.. if you want" she shrugged her shoulders

AJ nodded in response, offering Lily a small smile. He had a feeling he was blushing, but sincerely hoped he wasn't. "Oh, ah, the car?" He shrugged. He hadn't thought about it for a few days, being far too busy trying to avoid the woman in front of him. But he couldn't very well tell her that, could he? "Guess it's just not meant to be." After all, what would he do with it once it was all fixed up? He couldn't exactly go anywhere. And besides, he couldn't even drive. "Ahh." He nodded again, raising the rabbits slightly so their little bodies swung a bit more. They were pretty pathetic specimens, but someone would have a use for them. "Just out with Vinny..." He indicated towards another man with curly dark hair who had obviously just said something highly amusing as everyone he was talking to were laughing. AJ scowled slightly; he'd never been that good with people. Damn Vince. "Oh, yeah?" He turned his attention back to Lily and cracked a smile. "Might be alright, yeah. Lemme just...trade these off..." He waved the rabbits again before heading over to one of the stalls. He caught a glimpse of himself in a cracked mirror as he passed; his cheeks were quite pink.
She nodded smiling "Ok I'll wait at the gates when you're done you can find me there" she turned around and started walking towards the gates, at the watchtower she starting talking with one of the guards before to long she was sitting on one of the stumps by the gate gently swinging her legs back and forth waiting for AJ. When she saw him coming she waved and jumped off the stump and stood at the gates waiting for the guards to open them up "Did you get anything good for the rabbits?"
